Customize your countdown timer.
By default, the OBS countdown timer includes hours, minutes, and seconds, which can feel overly detailed for shorter countdowns. Whether you're preparing for live streams, quick breaks, or transitions, having a cleaner timer that displays only minutes and seconds can enhance your stream layout's professionalism and focus. This guide will show you how to modify the OBS countdown timer to remove the hours section, creating a sleek and streamlined countdown clock that fits your needs perfectly.
To begin, ensure that a countdown timer is part of your scene. You can add one by creating a text source and linking it to a countdown script or plugin. Make sure the timer is visible on your canvas. If you're unfamiliar with adding a countdown timer, refer to this step-by-step guide on creating an OBS countdown timer.
Confirm that the OBS countdown timer is displayed in the preview area. The default format typically shows hours, minutes, and seconds (e.g., 00:04:46 for 0 hours, 4 minutes, and 46 seconds).
Click on the countdown timer source in the Sources panel to select it.
The bounding box for the timer will appear on the preview canvas.
With the timer source selected, press and hold the ALT key on your keyboard.
While holding ALT, click and drag one of the edges or corners of the bounding box toward the section you want to hide.
After cropping, you may need to reposition the timer to ensure it’s centered or aligned with your scene layout. Click and drag the timer box to move it as needed.
Once you’re satisfied with the changes, lock the source by clicking the lock icon next to it in the Sources panel. This prevents accidental edits during your stream.
By following these steps, you can easily remove the hour section from your OBS countdown timer to display only minutes and seconds. This simple adjustment helps create a professional and polished look for your live streams, all without needing additional coding or plugins.
